LUCAS OIL I-10 Speedway Hosts National Qualifier During Weekend Event

Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, California will be hosting national points races with a National Qualifier scheduled the same weekend. On Friday, March 20th, qualifying begins at 7pm and racing to being at 8:30pm. Bandoleros will run 15 lap features, and Legends Cars 25 laps.

On March 21st, the INEX National Qualifier will take place. The Legend car feature pays $400 to win and $75 to start the 50 lap race. Bandoleros will have a 20 lap race. INEX Executive Director, Darrel Krentz will be on attendance for the races, “I am very excited to see all the racers, and I look forward to some great racing.”

There’s also an awesome contest - something you just don’t see in many other sports or series! For just a $10 raffle fee, you can win a race-ready Supercup racecar and get “out of the stands and into the action.” According to the website, the car will come complete including your choice of paint job (standard colors only) and other prizes will be raffled off throughout the season with the grand prize - the race-ready Supercup racecar - being raffled off on the final race at Dells Raceway Park on September 12th. You can purchase tickets online - just e-mail cardoctorinc@juno.com or stop by Lee Auto Parts on Golf Road in Schaumburg, Illinois for tickets.

There will be two practice sessions held on the 1/4 mile at Lowes Motor Speedway from 6pm-9pm on March 2nd and March 9th. The cost for practice will be $40.

There are also 5 races scheduled on the 1/4 mile in March and April, which will be called the Spring Fling races. The dates are as follows: March 16th, and 23rd. April 13th, 20th, and 27th. Details can be found under the quick links section. The cost will be $50 per car, and $5 per person. The races will start around 5:00pm with a goal of being done by 9:30pm.

While the five events will not have a points championship specifically for those races, all five races for all divisions running will be INEX-sanctioned, and points will count towards the INEX National points title.

Shell 93 from the Shell Station at the intersection of Highway 29 and Hudspeth Road, near the speedway, will be the mandatory fuel for Spring Fling.

Competing on the Atlanta Motor Speedway road course for the second and final time in the 2008-09 Winter Flurry schedule, Saturday’s Winter Flurry event featured cars banging during both left and right-hand turns and a two-time winner.

Week 4 for the Winter Heat Series was on January 3, 2009, and was the first road course race for the series. 128 cars were entered to race. Winter Heat Series Race 4 Jan 3; road course at Lowe’s Motorspeedway; in-car camera Bandolero Bandit #92 Reid. #92 had a dominate car all day (see Heat Race Jan 3 video), but after running in 2nd place for the first three laps, 92 spins off the track and falls to back of the pack; at the end of the 8 lap race, 92 worked his way to a 5th place finish. Unfortunately, a wheel-base infraction identified in tech resulted in a DQ. The wheel-base was 1/4 inch out of compliance.

In the Bandolero divisions, the winners were Paxton Parker (Beginner Bandits), Gray Gaulding (Bandits), Corey Gordon (Young Guns) and Kenny Brown (Outlaws). In the Legends divisions, the race winners were Chad Finchum (Young Lions), Dennis Kiser (Semi-Pro), Jimmy Heavlow (Pro) and Clay Hair (Masters). The Thunder Roadsters winner was Jesse Bunnell.
